Concert Review: The Made to Destroy Tour With I Prevail, Neck Deep & Pierce the Veil

At the beginning of October I took a trip into New York City to catch the Made To Destroy Tour with Pierce the Veil, Neck Deep and I Prevail. Only having seen half of Pierce the Veil’s 2015 Warped Tour set, I was excited to finally be able to see them perform in full. Listening to Pierce the Veil has always been a staple in many young lives. Not only did they have a huge following before, the release of their newest album Misadventures sparked a whole new era for the post-hardcore band. This being their second tour since the release of that album, fans were excited to hear the new tracks as well as the classic ones.

The night started out strong with I Prevail, a heavier band than the following. With their new album set to release a few weeks after the show, they played a few off of that. The highlight of their set had to be when they performed their cover of “Blank Space” from the Punk Goes Pop Volume 6 compilation album. Not knowing much of their discography, they still had a decent set and gave the crowd the energy they needed to start the night off on the right foot.

Next up was Neck Deep, which the crowd responded much more to. The UK pop punk group is surely hitting hard in the music scene recently. After the release of their album “Life’s Not Out To Get You” in 2015, the band has been touring non stop. This tour they decided to play more tracks off of that album that they had never performed live before, such as “Threat Level Midnight”, “I Hope This Comes Back To Haunt You” and “Rock Bottom”. The crowd, including myself, was having a blast just jumping around to come classic pop punk. A Neck Deep set wouldn’t be complete without everyone’s flashlights out while singing their heart out to “A Part Of Me”. They always seem to have a great time performing, which in turn leads to an amazing energy from the crowd. Finishing off their set with “Can’t Kick Up The Roots”, Neck Deep never fails to blow me away with their live performances.

And then the moment we all waited for was actually here. The lights dimmed to show a minute long, Misadventures themed intro video that faded into the opening of “Dive In”. With the crowd already hyped up, it didn’t take much to send everyone over the edge. Pierce the Veil finally hit the stage with ton of new songs. Along with the new hits such as “Circles” and “Floral & Fading”, they also had to bring back some of the classics. “Stained Glass Eyes and Colorful Tears” was a personal favorite. And of course they had to play the classic fan favorites such as “Bulls in the Bronx” and “Bulletproof Love”. With a huge stage set up that included a rocket in the background, there was always something interesting happening on stage. From the banter between members to impressive pyrotechnics, it was truly a show. To many’s surprise, lead singer Vic Fuentes decided to slow it down and perform the acoustic bonus track “Kissing in Cars” for the first time ever. It was amazing to hear the fans scream back the words to a song he’s never played live before this tour. Closing with the infamous “King For A Day” (Unfortunately without Kellin Quinn), the set was definitely one to remember. The overall energy and vibe to this show was incredible. Pierce the Veil have such an amazing stage presence and I am very grateful I was finally able to catch a full set of theirs. It was nice to see I Prevail for the first time and Neck Deep always put on a great set. Definitely catch these bands live if you get the chance, I can guarantee you will not leave disappointed.
