As It Is channels Back to the Future in "Pretty Little Distance"

In a recreation of Back to the Future’s iconic “Enchantment Under the Sea” dance scene, As It Is has created their best music video to date. It correlates with their vintage 1950’s theme they’re aiming for with their forthcoming sophomore album, “Okay”, and it is shown to be working extremely well for them so far.

With everyone dressed in vintage grab (letterman and leather jackets, polka dot dresses, bow ties, the like), the band plays the scene out with a cuteness that involves a fight, a dance off, and a sick guitar solo by Andy Westhead.

As It Is highlights their guitar skills with this track, as well as a fun and lighter tone, despite their usual well-disguised gloom in their lyrics. In their music, the world is a deception, the enemy, but everything turns out okay in the end if we stay out of our head while also not buying into the idea of a perfect world.

The question is posed, “Ain’t life swell from a pretty little distance?” It definitely is for As It Is and the future of their music. With only the rest of the album needed to make a complete picture, the past, present, and future s bright for this band and this scene.

“Okay.” drops January 20, 2017 via Fearless Records.
