If there was a book that told you what your entire future looked like in that moment, including all your achievements, dreams come true, careers, outcomes, and more, would you look at it?

For me this is a challenging question, but I know in my heart the answer.

I think there would be a lot of pressure knowing what your future will look like. There would be no wondering, no doubt, but there would be no mystery. Having what your life will look like staring you in the face would be a scary thing, no matter what decisions are already made. The mystery is something that makes the future so exciting yet fearful. All of that would be gone.

And do you really know if that’s how your future will look? Think about it! Our lives are changing every day, with every little thing that we do. My future may look a certain way right now, but by tomorrow I could make one decision that makes my expedition travel in the opposite direction. That’s the crazy thing about the future; it’s so unpredictable!

All of your decisions affect the way your life will look. Do not ever sell yourself short, thinking this is the way things are gonna be, because of the way they’re planned out in your mind or what you are told.

The future is scary. The future is exciting. The future is uncertain.

And I think it’s that way for a reason. And for these reasons, I would not want to see what my future looks like. I’d rather live it, not be told it.

With every decision, think of how it will affect you in the long run. Don’t do something where karma will come back to bite you in the butt and don’t ever sell yourself short. Go after your dreams and take chances. Trust me, your future self will thank you. ◊
